One thing to always keep in mind is that the simpler the better, which is something migrating from PI to PO can do for you. However, there are many different reasons beyond the simplicity that make this migration beneficial to you and your team.

PO delivers a modern user experience, which is what companies strive for. With Fiori, where human interaction is required, HTML5 user interfaces that work on desktops, tables, phones and watches.

It would also then make your SAP ready for the cloud. There are iFlows used in the PO system that use artifacts that can also be used in the HANA Cloud Integration product. This means that when you choose to use this tool for Cloud – Cloud or Cloud on-premise integration. An added benefit is that you can then re-use work you have placed into the interface definitions and mappings.

The last and biggest benefit is that you’ll be ready for HANA. Using PO, you can now run your middleware on HANA, meaning you can get real-time insight from the system tables, put Operational Process Intelligence directly into the process/integration events and use HANA Smart Data Streaming for high volume IoT scenarios.

By migrating from PI to PO, you will not be locked out of new features they have. Also, while using PO (or other SAP middleware) you can be sure that you will not hit any issues when migrating your data in and out of your S/4 HANA landscape.
